Gadhkaleva, run by Gyandeep Mahila Self-Help Group in the Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum complex located in Raipur, has become a favorite place for lovers of Chhattisgarhi cuisine these days in the cold season. Especially the demand for traditional cheela has increased rapidly. Cheela made from rice and flour is served here with fresh green chilli chutney and tomato chutney. The aroma and taste of cheela made in the traditional way in Gadhkaleva is attracting people from far and wide.
150 plates of cheela are sold daily
Manju Arjaria, Secretary of Gyandeep Women Self-Help Group, said that Gadhkaleva of Raipur is run by a women’s group. Here traditional dishes of Chhattisgarh are available at very low prices. Currently, the demand for cheela has increased the most during the winter months. Hot cheela remains the first choice of people in the cold season. Actually, cheela is eaten in morning breakfast in every house in rural areas of Chhattisgarh. But, hundreds of people living in urban areas in Gadkaleva of the capital come here every day to eat the famous hot cheela. 100-150 plates of cheela are being sold daily in Gadhkaleva. Whereas on Saturday and Sunday this figure reaches more than 300.

Self-help group secretary Manju Arjariya further says that the story of Gadhkaleva of Raipur is unique. The environment here is like a rural environment. The roofs are made of tiles and are plastered with cow dung daily. Apart from this, a platform has been installed in the open space to sit under the tree.
